Nilavilakku is an integral part of all religious and auspicious occations in South India.
In Malayalam, Nilam is ground and Vilakku means lamp. In Tamil language also Nilam and vilakku have the same meaning. Nilavilakku play an important role at the presentation of various dance and art forms.
